Do I need therapy?
I may be biased (I am a therapist after all!), but the answer is yes.
We live in a culture where physical health is a priority, while mental, emotional, and spiritual health are merely afterthoughts. But guess what…health is health. We simply cannot expect our body to function flawlessly when our spirit is suffering. If you broke your arm would you think twice about going to a doctor for an x-ray and a cast? Of course not. Why then do we question whether our mental health struggles are valid? They are. Your brain is an organ (arguably the most important one), and just like any other organ, it can malfunction. It’s not “all in your head",” just like it’s not “all in your lungs” when you have a cough. Mental health is health. If you are here reading this, then yes, you need therapy (we all do).
